Bled, Bohinj, and the Vingtar Gorge Slovenia

6 and 7 JUNE 2016
Our first stop in Slovénia was Lake Bohinj. We arrived in the later afternoon. There were clouds in the mountains and mist between the trees. The road on the way into this part of the world was gorgeous with big fluffy clouds and snow dotting the mountains.

Lake Bohinj was rainy and cold. We came a little early in the season, but the perk of that: not many people around. We camped at Camp Zlatorog right at the edge of the lake for 10 EUR per person and I just need to say: BEST CAMPING SHOWERS EVER!

Then it was off to Lake Bled. Bled Campground was not as amazing as Bohinj's and we almost just went back to Bohinj for the night, but it started raining of course and we stayed put.

Lake Bled was pretty easy to photograph and the overcast day made it even better.

We decided to do Bled Castle instead of going on the lake to the island... Not the best idea. The Castle was pretty boring and going through it wasn't as exciting as the boat trip could've been.

Here's the view from up top.

Next was the Vingtar Gorge.

I had to get off the path because of these views. Luckily we were pretty alone.

At the Vingtar Gorge, you walk about one and a half kilometers, and at the end you can do a different hike. You repay though. So we didn't do it. There was also a waterfall at the very end. To get out of the gorge you just walk out the way you came in. Round trip of 3 kilometers, the prettiest 3 kilometers I've ever walked.

These two kilometers were the prettiest I've ever walked in my life !

This place is like a dream, something you only read about in books.

With very little tourists to block my photos!

On the way out, we made a meal on the side of the road. This was basically our cooking situation the entire trip, but it worked and we got to eat good, cheap, homemade food on the road:
